Vacation on a Budget

Is money tight and you’re wracking your brain for vacation ideas this summer? Then don’t fret! We’ll help you think outside the box with creative ways to vacation on a budget. According to BuzzFeed, there are affordable spots where many budget travelers like to vacation. Some of them include Croatia, Macedonia, Istanbul and Vietnam! It seems that the food and accommodations will not break the bank! Obviously some places are further away than others, therefore budgeting your plane ticket as the bulk of your expenses will be necessary.

For some of us this is only but a dream. After a reality check, you can start planning your vacation close to home. Take it as an opportunity to enjoy the good outdoors, and go up north for a long weekend or create your very own retreat right in your backyard. Here are some options you can do at home:

      1)      Create a campground
Who said camping in your backyard is no fun? Although you will not achieve a complete wilderness atmosphere, you may actually appreciate that you can run to the washroom at any given time or grab something you need inside your home. In fact, it will be especially convenient if you have small children!

First and foremost, begin by setting up your tents to accommodate the right number of people. Then, be sure to nestle the inside with comfortable bedding and pillows! Also, you can go the extra mile to create a realistic outdoorsy atmosphere by creating a campfire surrounded with benches – time for smores!

      2)      Your very own resort by the pool
For those of you with a pool, take advantage of being by the poolside to refresh yourself on hot days! Create a little haven either in the shade or below a gazebo. Use a collection of poufs to sit on, or some comfortable decorative pillows to maximize comfort on your outdoor furniture. That way you can have fun in the sun, or enjoy a refreshing drink in the shade. The choice is yours!

It’s a win-win. You save money, all while having fun. All in favor say “aye”!

Organic Materials

Organic Materials
Nowadays the term organic has also made its way into interior design. So what exactly is meant by this so-called emerging design trend? Basically, anything made from natural materials can be considered “organic”. However, the trend goes beyond just using natural materials – entails a specific green lifestyle & design choice. In other words, there is more to the furniture, fabric & flooring in this type of home than just looking “natural”. They must be chemical-free. Some popular organic materials include hemp, reclaimed wood, sisal, natural stones and recycled glass. Let’s take a look at the top picks for your home;
Rugs:

Check out this braided beauty! The Dismuke rug is a handwoven jute and cotton rug. This weave features a tapestry of earth tones that is reminiscent of nature itself. The fact that it is handmade has a lesser impact on the environment, rather than if it was manufactured. Also, another benefit of using a natural rug is that you’ll avoid breathing the chemical particles that form when a synthetic rug is exposed to the sun.
Poufs:
The versatile pouf has been a favorite for quite some time. Round out your space with the casually hip Dilip pouf. This piece features a cable knit cover crafted of natural jute. Its feel-good texture makes it a versatile spare seat, ottoman or end table; the perfect all-in-one eye candy.

Wall Art:
Paint a picture of easy relaxation in your space with the Odus wallart. The weathered plank-style layout features natural and black undertones, making it a very cool understatement. This charming piece will surely deck your walls with knockout style!
Now that you have the facts about natural materials not only being a highly sought after trend, but also beneficial to your health, will you opt for this green lifestyle?

Upcoming Spring Colors - Trends to introduce to your home

Every year in the Spring, the color palette changes. Trends come and go based around these colors, and we tend to shift our home decor, furniture, and overall design themes as a result. It’s incredible, the amount of influence something as simple as a color palette can have, but it also makes a huge statement as to what we find appealing at any given time.

This year, of course, is no different. Pantone has been the standard for upcoming color trends for years. They release a ‘color of the year’ that defines trends for 365 days at a time. But, they also release color palette predictions based on seasons.

For the upcoming Spring season, it's all about getting back to the natural beauty that surrounds us in different ways. Spring is a time for vibrancy, and appreciating nature. Pantone's upcoming Spring colors absolutely reflect those moods. They're taking a page from Mother Nature's book with colors like Pale Dogwood, Greenery, and Niagara. More subdued and familiar tones like Kale, Hazelnut, and Lapis Blue also make the cut, blending the natural coloring surrounding us with comfortable items we're familiar with.

What better time to appreciate the beauty of the natural world than in a blooming, flourishing Spring? Niagara will lead the color palette as the 'it' color for the season. It's denim-like blue reflects an idea of relaxation, comfort, and familiarity. All of the great colors that make the 'top ten' list  for the season are designed to do exactly the same. So, as you take a look around you this Spring, and try to decide which color palette to focus on for your home. Take a page from Pantone's book, to select on trend poufs, picture frames, rugs, throws and other decorative pieces that reflect these color palettes. Not only will you be on trend, but nature's color palette will find its way into your home!
